Why oh why Wednesday - Squad Cars

Why oh why?

So, you know those retired old unmarked police cars that you see on the streets that you know were once in service but have since been auctioned off?

Well, my question of the week is, why oh why is it that you only see black people driving them?  I first noticed this and then began a thorough investigation into each one I witnessed and have yet to disprove my theory.
So, naturally I turned to the one and only black person I really know, my Jamaican friend Tyrone, and his naturally clever response was, "so they knew what it felt like to sit in the front seat."
So, there you have it.

Stuff that I think about while I should be working :)

My latest mind occupants.

My Michael Kors watch that my amah-zing sister got me for Christmas, I try everyday to wear brown so that I can rock this beauty.  I plan outfits around it.  I turn my nose up to black these days.
Maxi skirts.  How effortless is this?  I need effortless these days.  Hello skirt, tank, cardi and some flats!  Easy Peasy.

Learning to sew.  Up until now I've had ZERO desire to learn to sew (I have my momma for that)  NOW, I can't bring myself to buy the above skirts that I drool over, how stinking easy would that be to build?  Plus, think about the endless possibilites of how cute Peyt would be in Mommy Creations?  Yup, gonna do it.

Spin class!!!  I'm a spinaholic.  I love love love it.
I don't care how motivated you are on your own; you aren't going to get this kind of workout it by yourself!  More to come about how in love I am with this soon.

Ignore disgusting nails.
I signed up for my very first ever physical fitness event thingy!  I'm doing the turtle version but that's still 230 miles y'all!  It's an all month event.  But doing 15 miles Mon/Wed/Fri at spin still means I have to run/elliptical 6.25 miles on Tues/Thurs.  Yikes!  But I get my very first ever physical fitness event thingy tee shirt!

Starting tomorrow I will be on my way to looking, feeling and performing better!  I need a jumpstart to get these last baby pounds off.  So, I thought I would try out the products that everyone and their brother seem to endorse.  Everyone can't be wrong, right?
Wish me luck!

Our Weekend

Family, Floors & Failures

Worked on getting the floor laid Friday.  Failed.  Got floor prepped and ready, then looked up to see that we REALLY needed to paint the ceiling before we laid down pretty floor.  No biggie. Painted.  Paint began to dry and it flaked and peeled and looks absolutely awful.  Don’t know what the issue is.

If my floor looks amazing, no one will look up, right?

Saturday drove to San Angelo to visit with family.  It was nice, then Peyt turned bright red  and her eyes to began to water incessantly and she was a fuss bucket so that was fun.  Tylenoled the situation, that calmed her and she took a nap.  Still not herself.  Strapped her in the car and she was all smiles.  Goofy kid.  Came home.  Cleaned.
Hung out yesterday morning, tried new joint around the house for burritos.  Then we had visitors, Buppy, PawPaw, Barbie and Dusty came over  to see zeze babe.  Then cleaned some more.  Went out to papa’s for Grandma Peggy's birthday.

Papa and his two Baby P's!
Hung there for a bit, came home, ran by my friends Lindsay’s because she had a surprise for Peyt.  (cute cute sailor outfit and a spring dress - Linds and her husband are former sailors :) )
Went home and hung on the porch for a while (because the weather was beautiful!)

You can't tell, but it really is snowing.
Watched Oscars red carpet special then started clearing out the DVR.
Didn’t go to bed ‘til 10ish.  Cray cray!

Wrap up, lots of family, house update failures and cleaning.

Why oh why do bank drive throughs have big ole windows?

What advantage is that?

It most certainly is not for the teller to notice my car sitting there before those other four cars she has already helped.

It is not an advantage to let me see that the tellers are diligently working to accomodate all the customers in line. (hahaha sarcasm)

It is not an advantage to show me that all EIGHT lanes are open but there is only ONE teller working them.

It's like a slap in the face.  Hence the reason I was withdrawing what little money I had left in that account and moving it else where.

I intentionally waited until after lunchtime-ish (2:45pm) to go so that way I would hopefully be helped quickly and would most likely run into the least amount of other customers.

JD's theory if you need to go to any government agency go at 2pm - best time to go! Didn't hold up for banks. :(

Is this at all banks or just mine?

I have contemplated how the tellers should be scheduled.
They should be on a 30 minute rotation.  That way they get a 15 minute "working break" in between "focused customer" roations (they do NOTHING but help their assigned car lane customers)  The 15 minute break would ensure they would be able to productivly visit with their coworkers and obtain the items they need before getting back to their station.  Also, banks should schedule the MOST tellers at lunch time when MOST people do their banking!  Does this only make sense to me?

Why do the tellers even need to get up anyway?  Don't they have what they need at their station?  Cash and paperclips and envelopes?  Pens perhaps?

To any bank managers who are reading my silly little blog I would be thrilled to provide you with my consulting services.  Name the time and place!  I got this!

Our Weekend

And in this case our long weekend!

Friday:  Hubs and I both took off Friday to go purchase new flooring for our hallway and entryway.  Easy peasy.  That took 45 minutes.  Then it just sat in there, acclimating.  Who knew my flooring would need to get used to us.

Don't recall much of what else we did Friday.  Lazed about - played with the babe!

Gosh, If I'm going to be a blogger I'm going to have to get way better at remembering the mundane things we do so I can beef them up and make them sound exciting.

Aren't you thrilled with our choice?
I am - I'm so stinking excited to get floor down in there!

Saturday:  Basically, it was a countdown all day to date night!  We did some floor prep and hung out around the house.  Then, the clock finally struck 5pm marking the time we can drop off the babes for her first sleep over at her Nonna's house!

Nonna  even bought Minnie Mouse footed pajamas (for herself)  for the occasion!
So, we're off!  Date Night - Here we come!

First:   We head to the fancy eating establishment of Chili's!  Get there, early, 5:30ish to learn of the 45 minute wait.  Grrr.  I don't wait well, neither does the man who claims his procrastination is just an enormous amount of patience. (lies)  So, we decide to give them our name and wait it out.  But... to add to the fun of the "Date Night" I have decided to give them the name, Triplehorn.  (for those of you who haven't seen Date Night, the movie - it's a must see!)  So, we stand there and stand there and about 10 minutes in we decide to forget it and head to the mall for some light shopping and super steak sandwich instead.
But!  I didn't tell the hostess to remove our name from the list, so I know 40 minutes after we left they were walking around yelling for Triplehorn!  How much fun would that have been to be there and seen that?  Tons I know.  Makes me wish I had patience.  We hope someone stole our reservation!

Second:  We head to the mall I make a quick stop at Old Navy for some new jeans (which came home and fit perfectly! - $19)  and a couple work out shirts - the thin/soft ones that allegedly wick away sweat or something - $5! (Grrr.  got home to discover one of the shirts I picked up was an XS.  Never in my life have I been a XS.  Don't think that would even be possible without some bone shaving! Had to take it back, ain't nobody got time for that!)

Third:  Retrieved our precious delish sammiches from the food court; fought our way back to the car.  The parking lot was eerily similar to December 16th.  We made it and I didn't even shoulder punch anyone.  I was quite proud.

Fourth:  Got home.  Ate our sammiches (without holding an infant! YAY!)  Then decided on a movie, Flight, the Denzel Washington the alcoholic pilot movie.  Pretty good.  Kinda slow IMO.
Finished that.  Took 3 Tylenol PMs to try to avoid the waking up every hour thing. Hit the sack before 9:30pm!  An hour after our bed time!  Party animals!

Sunday:  Woke up around 7, tried my darnedest to go back to sleep, wouldn't work, got up, made french toast.  In all my adult life I don't think I've ever made french toast.  Success!  Laid about for a while.  Husband had an itch all weekend to go to Hastings to see what he needed, so we went by there before picking up the princess.  I was starting to get the Peyton itch by then.  But then I found the Clearance section of the kids book department.  Yikes!  Came home with 6 books.  Then went to pick up my baby!  I missed her.  Then went home, did all the laundry, dishes, cleaned cleaned cleaned, rearranged the dining room.

Really rather boring weekend. But it was a good one :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Thank you Nonna for the precious cupcake onsie and chevron pants!
Happy Valentine's Day Y'all!

We have a very quiet night planned, cook a dinner of stuffed peppers together, hit up the DVR for an hour or so and bed by 8:00pm!  We're wild and crazy!

But this weekend is a different story.
Miss Peyton is staying overnight for the first time with my momma and the hubby and I might get nutty and stay up and watch a movie before hitting the hay.
(and gloriously sleeping UNINTERRUPTED - ALL NIGHT LONG )

Thanks Mom for the card, candy, pail, and flower growing kit!
Thank you Trisha for the gorgeous tulips (my fav- for the record)

Why oh why Wednesday?

Why oh why, do some people feel the need to get their word in and feel heard?  (when it's unnecessary)

Prime example:  Friend on facebook asks a good general question, Being pregnant, is it safe for me to paint?

Simple enough, right?

  • First girl responds:   it's safe, but ventilation is key.
  • Second girl responds:   it's safe, but make sure you have plenty of ventilation and buy VOC free paint.
  • Third girl responds:   make sure paint is VOC free and open plenty of windows.
  • Fourth girl responds:   I painted pregnant, just open windows.
  • Fifth girl responds:    Buy the VOC free paint at Home Depot.

Y'all, this continues for 15 comments.

Why oh why, didn't the 4th person down (and beyond) say, oh, she's got the gist of what she should do, I'll just keep scrolling through my facebook minding my own business.

Don't state the obvi, again!

Off to change the world one Wednesday rant at a time!

My hesitation to start a blog.

Do I really have the time with a four month old, job, husband and house?  no.
Do I really have important stuff to say?  no.
Do I really think someone might read this?  no.
Am I organized enough to keep up with this?  no.
Do I have five post its floating around in my purse with tiny half sentences of blog topic ideas?  yes.
Did my super good friend Justin ask, why do all women who pop out a baby feel the need to create a blog?  yes.
Is my real hesitation in starting a blog having to compose the intro about myself? yes.

But why do I even need that?  I don't.  If I do keep up with this bloggy blog, all 7 of your will get to know me.  Who am I kidding, at this stage, only my fam and besties will read this so all 7 of you already know me!

Compose intro

Welcome to my blog, Mom!
